Florida Fishing Report
It's Like Deja vu All Over Again
Within the pages of Yogism, it was not hard to find the famed catcher's philosophy that would describe recent spring flats fishing. "It's like deja vu all over again ". Late cold snaps, bait availability, gin clear water and plenty of northeast wind are all too familiar anymore. Perhaps it is for the better. What was once considered "unfavorable conditions" make us work harder and we subsequently become perpetually consistent as fishers of fish. And so it is and will be.
Overall, the flats have been producing jumbo snook, redfish, trout, tarpon, flounder, jacks, and cobia in full swing. Nearshore, Spanish and king mackerel, cobia, permit and the usual bottom reef species are frenzied just a few miles offshore.
Our full focus now will be on the giant tarpon of Florida's west coast. With no red tide in the Gulf, clean water and plentiful bait, it will likely be one of the best tarpon cycles in recent years. Props to the tarpon gods!
I'll keep the words short and let the images do the talking (my apologizes to dial up users for the long download). Enjoy the images!
